If you’re taking public transportation while in New York, there’s a good chance that you’ll end up at or near Penn Station. Bag storage at Penn Station is difficult, but not impossible – and it’s certainly worth looking into if you want to sightsee in the area without your bags.
First, know that there are no Penn Station self service lockers! All of those were shut down after the events of 2001 due to security concerns.
But luckily, Penn Station offers baggage keeping to its Amtrak ticket holders for a fee. You do have to have an Amtrak ticket in order to use this service.
However, if you aren’t an Amtrak ticket holder and don’t really want to buy one, there are other options near Penn Station. We’ve always had good experiences with Luggage Hero, which is having several locations in close proximity to Penn Station. Their advantage is the hourly price of 1$ offered and the good network of storing spots close to Penn station.
“Convenient & Friendly Service – We didn’t know what to expect but our expectations were exceeded by the friendly service at the shop. Our bags were safe and secure while we spent our day out and about.” – Elizabeth Esposito
