What to Do With Luggage After Check Out from Airbnb

If you’re staying at an Airbnb in Sacramento and have a late flight or train, then you’re probably wondering what to do with your bags. The same goes for an early arrival: what to do with luggage before checking into your Airbnb?

We have the answers!

First, you can check with your host to see if they would be willing to let you drop your bags off early or leave them there for a little while while you sightsee. Some Airbnb hosts are happy to let you do this, while others won’t be very excited about the prospect. Either way, you never know until you ask.

Second, you can store your luggage at Amtrak’s Sacramento Valley Station for $20 per day if you’re a non-ticket holder. Ticket holders can store their luggage for only $10 per day, so if you’ve already ridden the train that day, then definitely take advantage of their reduced rates!

Third, you can ask local hotels if they are willing to store your bags for you. This depends on the individual hotel luggage storage policy, so call before you go to see if they might offer that service.

Curious about hotel luggage storage? We’ll go into that in more detail below.

Will A Hotel Hold My Luggage if I’m Not Staying There?

The age-old layover question: can you leave luggage at a hotel you’re not staying at?

The answer: it depends on the individual hotel.

Some local hotels might be willing to hold your bags for you even if you aren’t staying there, so it’s certainly worth asking. Since your time is valuable, we recommend calling and checking before going to a hotel in person, which will save you unnecessary time and travel costs.

If you’re a rewards member of certain hotels (such as Marriott, Hilton, etc.) the odds of them storing your bags goes way up. Because of that, we suggest trying them first if you have a membership.

Sometimes, you will have to pay the hotel to store luggage, and sometimes they will do it for free. Regardless, always remember to leave a hotel luggage storage tip for the person who helped you! It’s a courteous gesture that will probably make that person’s day.

Can You Leave Luggage At a Hotel Before Check-In?

If you’re wondering what to do with your luggage before check-in, then you’re in luck. Most places offer hotel luggage storage before check-in if you’re going to be staying there for the night.

Depending on the hotel, you might have to pay a small fee in order to enjoy this service. However, some will offer it to you free of charge!

Can You Leave Luggage at a Hotel After Check Out?

Generally, you will be allowed to store luggage at your hotel after checkout. At many hotels, bag storage is a complimentary service. However, some may require a fee.
